Since the 1960s, HELP New Mexico (HELPNM) has been a trusted force in communities across the state—dedicated to reducing poverty, expanding opportunity, and fostering resilience through early childhood education, job training, housing support, and food assistance. That mission continues today with an even greater reach and capacity to serve New Mexicans.

In 2023, HELPNM joined the Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC) family—one of the Southwest’s largest and most impactful nonprofit organizations. As part of CPLC’s network, HELPNM retains its local leadership and deep community roots while gaining access to shared systems, administrative resources, and a powerful regional support structure.

Together, HELPNM and CPLC unite local insight with regional strength. HELPNM contributes decades of trusted relationships and culturally grounded service in New Mexico, while CPLC provides strategic investment, organizational expertise, and a proven record of driving positive change across multiple states.
Our Story
Founded in 1965, HELP New Mexico, Inc. (HELPNM) began as the Home Education Livelihood Program, an initiative of the New Mexico Council of Churches.

Rooted in the collective efforts of pastors, ranchers, farmworkers, homemakers, business leaders, and public servants, HELPNM was built on a shared belief — that every New Mexican deserves the opportunity to thrive.

In June 2023, HELP New Mexico (HELPNM) joined Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC) — one of the Southwest’s largest and most impactful nonprofit organizations. As part of the CPLC family, HELPNM continues to operate with local leadership and community focus while benefiting from CPLC’s extensive resources, shared expertise, and regional network.
